Explaining Car Classes
Irish Car Rentals vehicles uses The Association of Car Rental Industry System Standards (ACRISS) vehicle matrix and uses the SIPP code to identify features that the vehicle may have.
This is standard procedure used by car rental companies in Ireland such as Europcar, CARHIRE.ie, Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National.
This allows customers to understand and make determine on the right vehicle to rent by classifying cars. The four letter matrix provides 400 unique vehicle types. The codes are assigned by one letter from each category;
â€˘ 1st letter defines the Vehicle Category
â€˘ 2nd letter defines the Vehicle Type
â€˘ 3rd letter defines the Vehicle Transmission
â€˘ 4th letter defines the Vehicle Fuel Type & Air Conditioning
CDMR is an Compact, 4-5 Door, Manual Transmission, either Fuel/Diesel, Air Conditioning.
EDAN is an Economy, 4-5 Door, Automatic Transmission, either Fuel/Diesel, without Air Conditioning.
IDMR is an Intermediate, 4-5 Door, Manual Transmission, either Fuel/Diesel, Air Conditioning.
SVMR is Standard Passenger Van, Manual Transmission, either Fuel/Diesel, Air Conditioning.
When booking a rental car with Irish Car Rentals, you will see ACRISS codes used to define the particular car types available for rental.
When you book a car, we do not guarantee the definitely same model but we guarantee that you will get the car for Like for like / â€śor similarâ€ť based on same or higher SIPP code. Sometimes the cars may not be available however you will get the same or higher car class.
