Parents consider travel 'a top priority'
03-07-2009
Parents are keen for their children to travel as much as possible, a new survey has revealed.
Research by HSBC bank found that 90 per cent of British mums and dads want their kids to jet overseas and learn about different cultures.
A further 35 per cent of respondents said they would be happy for their children to travel independently when old enough.
Brendan Cook of HSBC wealth management commented: "Parents in the UK value travel and learning from other cultures as one of their highest priorities and want their children to travel extensively to study, work or just enjoy themselves."
A fifth of parents said learning about other nations is a vital part of their children's education.
Meanwhile, those planning to fly to Ireland and hire a car in Cork or Dublin will find plenty of cultural attractions to visit.
Holidaymakers can visit the historic Blarney Castle in Cork or learn about the Easter Rising at Kilmainham Goal.
