Getting to Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport is located 6km north of Dublin City Centre, and is connected to both the M1 and M50 motorways and is well signposted on all approach routes. Further information is detailed below:
By Taxi
Where once, at peak times finding a taxi in Dublin City would of been a challenge, now there is an abundance of them in operation. All taxis in Ireland are identifiable by their roof sign - which when lit means they are available for hire. In the city areas there are taxi ranks in operation although many can be hailed from the side of the road. Restrictions apply to taxis that are able to collect passengers at Dublin Airport, but the service is well organised by the Dublin Airport Authority. During peak times and after the public bus service stops running, there can be a delay.
By Bus
The public bus links to Dublin Airport are in general very comprehensive with both Dublin and nationwide routes on offer. The bus services are located outside the main arrivals hall where information on routes, costs and timetables are all present.
Dublin Bus operates a number of direct services to the city centre, including the 747, while the 16a, 41, 46, and 102 are indirect bus routes between the airport and city centre. Bus Eireann and Aircoach operate services to destinations outside of Dublin City.
By Car
Dublin Airport is well signposted on all approach routes and is easy to locate. During peak traffic times allow plenty of time to return your car rental at Dublin Airport and to check in for your return flight. Up to the minute traffic information can be accessed on 103.2FM. All GPS systems offered for rental contain points of interest for all locations nationwide.
There is a set down only area at Dublin Airport with strict enforcement in operation. Cars that are left unattended will be towed immediately with strict fines in place. The Airport Police are always in attendance and ensure the policy is strictly enforced. To collect a passenger, the DAA suggest you use the short term car park located beside Terminal 1.
Dublin Airport offers 3600 short term car parking spaces and 14400 long term spaces. There are a number of independent car parking operations in and around the airport with many of the hotels nearby offering packages including parking and car valet.
