Irish
Car Rentals - Barrier Free Motoring
In
order to improve traffic flow and ease congestion, the
National Roads Authority decided some time ago to introduce
“Barrier Free Tolling” on the M50. This will result in
the removal of all pay booths at the toll plaza. This new
system is effective from Saturday August 30th 2008.
From
this date you will be unable to pay the toll as you pass
through the plaza. The toll is being increased and it must
be paid within 24 hours or the cost will double, with fines
for no payment applying thereafter. While it is your
responsibility to pay all tolls, fines etc, Irish Car
Rentals as the registered owner of the vehicle will receive
demands for late payment and fines.
Under
the new system Irish Car Rentals will
have all its vehicles registered with the Roads Authority.
All tolls and administrative charges for the M50 Toll Plaza
will be paid by Irish Car Rentals and recharged to you as
part of your rental agreement accordingly.
The
cost per toll including administration and fees will be €4.93
(€5.73 for Commercial vehicles). The system whereby
we will pay the toll on your behalf will be of great
assistance to you in that:
a)
You will not have to remember or worry about paying the toll
by the following day
b) You will not have to seek out a location for payment
displaying the “payzone” or “Tolls” logo
c) You will not have to queue in a shop/petrol station,
advise the shop assistant of the car registration number,
pay the toll and obtain and keep a receipt for same as proof
of payment
d) You will never have to worry about late payments or fines
It
should be noted that this is not a new toll, it is simply a
new way of paying the toll. All Irish Car Rentals customers
will be provided with information regarding the tolls upon
collection of their vehicle. We will also have literature
available for customers which will be attached to their
rental agreement. For more information about Barrier Free
Motoring please go here.
