Kilkenny is known for its hurling team nicknamed 'the cats'. Hurling is a national sport similar to Lacrosse where players used a wooden stick to hit a ball towards the opposition goal. Kilkenny is also the home of the famous 'Cat Laughs' comedy festival each year which attracts the top comedians from home and abroad.
